First and last mile: planning the hidden costs in container operations

Why should the links between factory, warehouse, terminal and final delivery be planned separately?

First mile

In EXW or factory-pickup scenarios, the right vehicle, loading appointment, container supply and terminal acceptance window are planned before the main freight leg.

Terminal and main carriage

Origin terminal, arrival terminal, equipment type, B/L or CIM/SMGS document and terminal charges should remain visible in the quote breakdown.

Last mile

Local transportation between the arrival terminal and final address, customs delivery scope and unloading needs are assessed separately.
